A licensed behavior analyst needs an approved master’s degree, active BCBA certification, an exam, and a state license. The assistant route requires an approved bachelor’s degree, active BCaBA certification, an exam, and ongoing supervision from a licensed behavior analyst. BACB certification and the Georgia license are separate credentials; verify the state license before representing yourself as a licensed analyst.

Georgia law lets behavior technicians deliver ABA services under the authority, close and ongoing supervision, and responsibility of a licensed behavior analyst or assistant. Technicians cannot present themselves as professional behavior analysts. Before accepting a client-facing role, ask which licensed supervisor is responsible and how supervision is scheduled.
A listing that says “ABA therapist,” “behavior technician,” or “RBT” does not by itself identify the legal role. Clarify duties and supervision with the employer.
Georgia State’s Atlanta M.S. in Applied Behavior Analysis requires at least 36 semester hours and an earned bachelor’s degree for admission consideration. An optional nine-credit specialization can focus on autism and developmental disabilities or preschool and early childhood special education. GSU lists assistantships, fellowships, scholarships, and traineeships as funding options; ask the program about current availability.
This graduate pathway leads toward analyst roles; it is a different career step from supervised technician work.
